Use the energy cost calculator to estimate the electricity cost of running different appliances in no time.

Energy Consumption Calculation Formula:

E(kWh/day) = P(W) × t(h/day) / 1000(W/kW)

Energy Cost Formula:

Cost($/day) = E(kWh/day) × Cost(cent/kWh) / 100(cent/$)

The most convenient and reliable way to calculate the energy cost is the power cost calculator. Because it just requires a few inputs and provides you with the precise cost of electricity.

How to Calculate Energy Cost?

Follow the below-mentioned steps to calculate the energy cost:

  • Determine the energy price
  • Calculate the power consumed by the appliance
  • Now multiply the energy price by the power consumption of the appliance as we have done in the following example

Example:

Let's go through an example of energy cost calculation for a household appliance, such as a refrigerator. Use the following information:

  • Appliance: Refrigerator
  • Power Consumption: 150 watts
  • Daily Usage: 12 hours (it runs continuously)
  • Number of Days Used per Month: 30 days
  • Unit of Measurement: Kilowatt-hours (kWh)
  • The cost per kWh is $0.12.

Solution:

First, we will calculate the daily energy consumption:

Daily Energy Consumption = Power Consumption (in watts) × Daily Usage (in hours)

Daily Energy Consumption = 150 W × 12 hr = 1800 watt-hours (Wh) or 1.8 kilowatt-hours (kWh)

Now monthly energy consumption:

Monthly Energy Consumption = Daily energy consumption (kWh) × Number of days used per month= 1.8 kWh × 30 days = 54 kWh

Now perform power cost calculations:

Cost = Monthly Energy Consumption (kWh) × Cost per kWh

Cost = 54 kWh × $0.12/kWh = $6.48

Running a refrigerator that consumes 150 watts continuously for 12 hours a day for 30 days will cost you approximately $6.48 per month. If you don't want to perform the manual energy calculation, then simply use an energy consumption calculator. It will perform the calculation in a matter of seconds.

How Does Our Energy Cost Calculator Work?

With this energy cost estimator, you can easily find the cost of running an electric appliance for a specific duration. Let’s see how it works:

What Do You Need to Enter?

  • Typical Appliance: The specific appliances for which you want to know the energy cost
  • Power Consumption: Amount of energy that the selected appliance consumes
  • Hours of Use Per Day: The total hours the appliance runs in a day
  • 1 Kilowatt-Hour (kWh) Cost: The cost of energy in your country

This is What You Will Get!

  • Energy Cost Per Day: The daily cost of running the appliance
  • Energy Cost Per Month: The cost that you will have to pay after running it for a month
  • Cost of Energy Per Year: This is the annual cost of energy that your appliance is consuming in a year

Through this power cost calculator, you can calculate the energy consumed by the appliances of your home, offices, or any commercial unit and can make the right decision regarding the use of energy.
